At Perfect Southern BBQ, our backyard cooking is powered by the versatility of The Big Green Egg. It’s our go-to choice for smoking and grilling a variety of dishes, including pork, chicken, ribs, brisket, and even pizza!
Over the years, we’ve experimented with different sizes of Big Green Eggs, from Medium to Large and X-Large. Regardless of the size, they have consistently delivered excellent results. While I’ve also worked with pellet and stick smokers as part of occasional cook teams, The Big Green Egg remains our top choice for its reliability and performance.

Big Green Egg Products: We rely heavily on Big Green Egg products to enhance our cooking experience.
Flame Boss 500 Smart BBQ Smoker Temperature Controller: For our long cooks, we use the Flame Boss 500, which helps us maintain precise temperatures for perfect results.
Meater Probe: We love the Meater Probe, the original true wireless smart meat thermometer. Its Bluetooth and WiFi digital connectivity provide accurate readings for both grill temperature and internal meat temperature, ensuring a flawless cook every time.
Our Preferred Charcoal and Wood
Charcoal: We primarily use Big Green Egg Lump and Rockwood Lump charcoal, both of which are readily available in our area and help us achieve high-quality cooks.
Cook Woods: To add depth and complexity to our flavors, we use a variety of cooking woods, including pecan, post oak, hickory, mesquite, apple, and bourbon barrel wood.
